Descriptive Title

Your assignments should, above all, show evidence of close reading and critical thinking. That being said, they should also have impeccable MLA formatting. All formal essays should be typed and double-spaced. Please use Times New Roman 12-point font. Be sure to change the default margins to 1” all the way around – on the top, bottom, and both sides. If you have the
newest version of Windows, make sure that you don’t accidentally have more
than double-spacing between your paragraphs or the lines of your header.

I’m sure most of you know this already, but use “insert → page number → top of page → plain number 3” for the correct format for your last name and the
page number in the upper right-hand corner. Typing this in at the top of each page wastes time, and is especially annoying to go back and change when
you make revisions.

The works cited entries should begin on a new page, but in the interest of saving paper, some samples are included at the bottom of this one (as you
are free to do with your rough draft).
